"You can never really be with someone until you know who you are without them."
- Devasi, 2018
Thoughts:
How can you be with someone, if there is no "you" to begin with? The only way to truly be with another being, is to understand and realize yourself separate from them first.
"Normal" is really just the absense of "abnormal".
- Andrea McNichol | Book: Handwriting & Putting it to Work For You.
Thoughts:
Things that we see as absurd were once normal and things that we see as normal were once extremely absurd.
Is it case studys that prove "norms"? Is it popular opinion that defines truth? If we finally get a large enough sample size and a reasonable control group, will we finally know what is normal and what is abnormal?
Being "normal" is simply when you're just "not abnormal". When you don't stand out or diverge from the usual.
"Ignorance may be bliss, we may not know the price, but we will pay the price"
- Michael Smith, 2014
Thoughts:
This saying completely contradicts the saying "What you don't know won't hurt you", but it is unfortunately true.
"Most people don't understand the boundaries of their morality and how those boundaries can be influenced by the incentives of the system that they are operating."

From the Art Of Manliness Podcast: 10 Unchanging Ideas for Navigating an Everchanging World.
Thoughts:
People tend to build their morals based on external factors. Religion, family, social norms... etc.
We build "moral walls" around various concepts.
We construe reasons and agreements that protect us from interacting with those concepts. We feel a lack of control over or confusion about ourself, so we create contexts to control our actions.
This is functional when you live and stay within that external moral construct, but far too often, life takes us away from everything we know and "believe". What then? Who are you when your context changes?
The issue is that it is virtually impossible to see every angle of a concept; to "proof" every approach and every circumstance.
The only way to maintain your ethics and stay true to what you believe is to stop looking at the world and instead look at yourself.
Stop building walls around things in your world and instead build yourself into a fortress.
Stop chasing the world to find personal justification. Rather, realize that you, the beholder justify the world around you.
"It's never too late to do the right thing."
- Movie: Escape From Planet Earth, 2013
Thoughts:
No matter how close you've come, how far you've gone, or what your current outlook is, it is never to late to re-evaluate and do what you believe is right and good.
"'Cause what good is the kingdom, when you're missing the love?"
- Mike Shinoda, 2018 | Song: Crossing The Line
Thoughts:
You think that life will finally be good once you can have all of your material needs taken care of? Or you think it is love when you fill up my life with stuff in ways that I am not capable of doing myself? This is not love.
It's not love to give me everything I never wanted, it's not love to promise me the world and never really be with me. What good is a throne, if you're sitting alone? What good is jewelry and a beautiful dress when you're dancing all on your own?
"Our home is our family, not our posessions"
- Christina Gregory
the book: Across This Wide and Lonesome Prairie
Thoughts:
Far too often the supporting elements of life become the defining elements of life.
It's easy to lose sight of what really matters, and in doing so, we divert our energy and attention to parts of life that don't really make a difference at the end of the day.
You're special house and fancy car never took a vow to stay with you for the rest of your life, so why are you spending so much more time and energy protecting and keeping them?
"How do you know that what is happening to you right now is bad?"
- Thewizardliz, 2023
Video: Stop doubting yourself.
Continued quote:
"Maybe you want that job, maybe you want that guy, maybe you want that business. But maybe that thing will completely destroy you and that's why you're not getting it.
And you might feel like, "oh, I feel so bad because this is what I wanted" but you're actually being protected. You are going to get something so much better afterwards, but you don't see that coming right now. So, how do you know it's bad?
Maybe it's the best thing that could have ever happend to you. Maybe it's the biggest protection that you ever had in your life.
Let life work out sometimes. Let the hurt happen. Let the hurt happen, but just do what you can do right now which is not give up and keep going.
That's the only thing you can do, not give up and keep going. And if you keep doing that, whatever is meant for you will align in your path."

Yes.
"This is what rituals are for...
We do spiritual ceremonies as human beings in order to create a safe resting place for most complicated feelings of joy or trauma, so that we don't have to haul those feelings around with us forever, weighing us down."
- Elisabeth Gilbert | Book: Eat, Pray, Love
Thoughts:
Memories are not all the same, each one holds very different significance and influence from the last. They affect us in so many different ways. Each and every moment of our lives holds meaning, some more influential than others.
The thing that so many of us struggle to do is find a way to use that significance for a greater purpose; to funnel all that energy into the things that matter instead of letting it drag us down and steer us offcourse.
Rituals are a way that humans build our mental infrastructure so that we can compartimentalize the knowledge, emotion and energy of memories to be accessable at will as well as to block it if need be.
"Man's chief delusion is his conviction that there are causes other than his own state of consciousness."

Once we realize that we are to blame as well as to praise for everything that happens in our lives, life becomes very interesting indeed.

"We are all self-made men and women, but only the successful take credit for it."
— Darren Hardy, The Compound Effect
Thoughts:
The fact of the matter is, we all have a choice. Our life is our decision... or lack thereof.
At the end of the day, you answer for yourself. Whether you consciously "make" yourself, or you let life "make" you, all along, you maintained the ability to choose.
That choice is what you answer for.
Not many peopld boast what they have created with their choices.
Learn to love making decisions -embrace the choice you were given- and you also will be proud of who you have become.
Very similar to the quote:
“In any moment of decision the best thing
you can do is the right thing, the next best
thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing
you can do is nothing.”
— Theodore Roosevelt
“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.”
— Theodore Roosevelt
Thoughts:
Decision, intentional decision, is one of the most creative forces in the universe. Action preceded by intentional thought.
